Herbert West, Re-Animator
If you were a horror kid in the ’80s, Re-Animator needs no introduction. Stuart Gordon’s 1985 film is great, gleeful, deadpan mad-scientist horror, and Jeffrey Combs as Herbert West is one of the best B-movie performances out there, a role he carried through two sequels (Bride of Re-Animator in 1990, Beyond Re-Animator in 2003). But what the films get right is that the source material is already funny. Lovecraft wrote Re-Animator as a six-part serial in 1921-22, and it has this matter-of-fact tone for a story about reanimated corpses causing chaos.
Pulse Books is putting out a deluxe illustrated book covering all three films. It’s a different animal from Templesmith’s Dagon project (that was one artist’s very particular vision), but from the look of the campaign, they’re taking the material seriously, which is all I ask. The cover glows in the dark, which is chef’s kiss.

Back it at the Kickstarter page. And if you haven’t seen the trilogy, fix that first.
